Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu arrived in China on Sunday for talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, with discussions set to focus on international and regional security issues, Russian media reported.
According to the Russian Security Council, the two sides will review developments in the global and regional security environment. Interfax news agency quoted the council as saying the talks would address the evolving security situation.
Shoigu’s visit comes as diplomatic efforts involving Russia, Ukraine and U.S. officials continue in an attempt to bring an end to the nearly four-year-long conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.
Shoigu last met Wang Yi in December during talks in Moscow.
