
Leaders of the Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council and the Metropolitan Universal Puja Committee met with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The leaders of the Puja Udjavan Parishad and the Sarbajanin Puja Committee met the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office at the Secretariat on Thursday (April 2) morning, said the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon.
He said, “Leaders of the Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council and the Metropolitan Universal Puja Committee met with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. They discussed their various problems with the Prime Minister.”Â
Local Government Minister, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Chairman’s Advisory Council member Bijon Kanti Sarkar and others were present during the meeting.
Among the leaders of the Hindu community were – President of Bangladesh Puja Udjavan Parishad Basudeb Dhar and General Secretary Santosh Sharma and President of Mahanagar Sarbjanin Puja Udjavan Committee Jayanta Kumar Deb and General Secretary Tapas Chandra Pal. Apart from this, there were also leaders like Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, Tapan Majumder.
After the meeting, Jayant Kumar Deb, president of the Metropolitan Public Puja Committee, said, “We discussed our various problems with the Prime Minister. He listened to our problems and assured us of solving them in stages.”
He further said, ‘We have also raised the issues of Minority Commission, Minority Protection Act, Hindu Foundation, Devotee Property Act etc. with the Honorable Prime Minister.’
Santosh Sharma, general secretary of Bangladesh Puja Udjavan Parishad, said, “We have raised our various problems with the honorable Prime Minister. He listened to our words and assured us of solutions in stages.”
