Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has announced a new schedule for in-person teaching in educational institutions across the country. According to the new decision, from now on, students will be present in the classroom three days a week and educational activities will continue online on the remaining working days.

He gave this important instruction while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop organized at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital on Thursday (April 9).

The minister said that from now on, classes will continue in the classroom on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays. Classes will be held online on the rest of the week, and Fridays will be the usual weekly holiday.

In his speech as the chief guest, the education minister said that the long process of board exams is wasting students' valuable time, which is harmful to their future. Although the officials benefit from the extra time spent from question formulation to the publication of results, about two years are lost from the lives of students. Eight bonuses can be taken after serving for 12 months, but wasting students' time is in no way acceptable.

Addressing teachers and officials, the minister said that it is important to engage talented teachers in teaching in the classroom instead of keeping them busy with administrative work. At the same time, he warned of strict monitoring, alleging that some inspectors of the National University were involved in irregularities. To stop the trend of not implementing training in the country after bringing it abroad, he directed that officials coming to the Ministry of Education must serve for at least three years.

Expressing concern over the mismanagement of English medium educational institutions, he said that many institutions are being run without proper licenses or security measures. There is a risk of major disaster in any accident. He also said that initiatives are being taken to formulate new laws to combat the increasing trend of 'digital counterfeiting'.
