At least one person has been killed and 27 others injured after a bus carrying British tourists plunged into a ravine on the Spanish island of La Gomera, emergency services said on Friday.<\/p>\n

Local authorities confirmed that the injured passengers, including three in serious condition, were airlifted to Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de Guadalupe Hospital and other nearby medical facilities. All 27 passengers, along with the driver, were British nationals, according to emergency officials.<\/p>\n

The Spanish Civil Guard told Reuters that the deceased was a 77-year-old British man.<\/p>\n

The accident occurred when the bus veered off the GM-2 road, a route in La Gomera, one of Spain\u2019s Canary Islands known for its popularity among tourists from northern Europe.<\/p>\n

Tour operator Holiday Property Bond said the group had been travelling to the airport to return to the United Kingdom at the time of the crash.<\/p>\n

The UK Foreign Office said it was aware of the incident and in contact with local authorities, adding that it stood ready to support British nationals affected by the tragedy.<\/p>\n

Spanish police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, which has not yet been determined.
