Tourist Desk: Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Advisor Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman has said that marginal, small and medium farmers will receive an incentive of Tk 2,000 per year. Tk 1,150 crore has been allocated from the development budget for this sector.He made this statement while highlighting the progress of various government activities at a press briefing organized at the conference room of the Directorate of Information (DII) at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday.Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman further said that the farmer card distribution program has started under the Ministry of Agriculture. As a pilot project, 21,140 farmers in eight divisions of the country will be given this card. If the project is successful, its scope will be expanded from the next fiscal year and more farmers will be brought under its scope in phases. He said that this card will also be effective in obtaining agricultural loans.Regarding the Land Ministry, he said, “Exchange of views is underway with the concerned parties to formulate the ‘Jalmahal Act 2026’. Through this, initiatives are being taken to protect the rights of fishermen and marginalized communities. At the same time, there is a plan to abolish the Jalmahal lease system.”Regarding the Ministry of Religion, the advisor said that 78,800 pilgrims will\u00a0perform Hajj this year. Hajj flight operations have already started and necessary preparations have been completed to ensure the smooth journey of the passengers. Regarding the measles situation in the health sector, he said, “Vaccination activities have been intensified. It will take some time for the vaccine to become effective, so we need to be patient for the situation to improve.”\u00a0At the time, the advisor also said that as part of disaster preparedness, a list of 145,000\u00a0 volunteers has been prepared to deal with a possible earthquake. A task force has been formed under the leadership of the Prime Minister in this regard and emphasis has been placed on implementing building codes.\u00a0He said that a “zero tolerance” policy has been announced against extortion to maintain law and order. In addition, the drive to evict illegal establishments is continuing.\u00a0The advisor also said that to protect the environment, the use of agricultural soil in brick kilns has been banned and strict surveillance has been initiated against cutting down mountains.\u00a0Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman said that the “Prevention of Violence against Women and Children (Amendment) Act 2026” has been approved for the protection of women and children. It has provisions for speedy trial, witness protection and use of digital evidence.
