Education Minister Dr. Milon said, ‘To ensure quality education, the government is working with the goal of allocating 5 percent of GDP to the education sector. We are not only focusing on infrastructure development, but also on the quality and reform of education. CCTV cameras have been installed in every classroom to ensure the quality of teaching. I would like to request the members of parliament to monitor the CCTV camera codes of the schools in their respective areas through smartphones.’ Regarding the teacher shortage and recruitment, the minister said, “Efforts are underway to resolve the complexities of the 32,500 primary school head teacher cases. The process of recruiting about 60,000 teachers in primary schools will begin very soon. In addition, a ‘pool’ of retired skilled and experienced teachers is being formed, and they will be used as part-time teachers in educational institutions facing a teacher shortage.” Warning about the current pattern of cheating, he said, “Now cheating is no longer done in the traditional way as before, now the variant of digital cheating has come. Only if the teacher does not teach in class, then students resort to cheating. Therefore, this disease must be eliminated through quality education.” At this time, the minister urged teachers to be more sincere in evaluating exam papers. The education minister said that 18 primary schools affected by the widening of the Sylhet-Dhaka highway will be included in the reconstruction project on a priority basis.
