Own Correspondent, Chittagong The Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has arrested two associates of identified terrorist David Emon along with a foreign pistol and four rounds of bullets in a raid in Bayezid Bostami area of ​​Chittagong city. The CMP said that on Saturday (July 26) night, a team of police under the leadership of Bayezid Bostami Police Station SI Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury conducted a raid in the Wajedia playground area on Oxygen Quaish Road as part of a regular anti-arms and anti-drug operation. Based on a secret tip-off, the two men tried to escape after sensing the presence of the police when they went there to arrest Md. Asif, a fugitive accused under a court warrant (GR-427/24). They were later chased and arrested. The arrested persons are Md. Asif (25) and Saidul Islam Prakash Arif (24). According to the police, their bodies were searched in the presence of witnesses as their behavior seemed suspicious. At that time, a foreign pistol was recovered from Asif’s waist. The pistol had two rounds of bullets loaded in its magazine. Two more rounds of bullets were also recovered from Arif’s pants pocket wrapped in paper. The recovered bullets have ’25’, ’32’ and ‘HPM’ engraved on them. Police said they could not show any valid licenses or documents to carry weapons and bullets. During interrogation, the police claimed that the two arrested were associates of David Emon, a notorious terrorist in Chittagong. According to the information received from them, it is initially known that these weapons were used in various terrorist activities including extortion and extortion in different areas of Chittagong metropolis and the district by collecting illegal weapons for a long time. However, independent verification of this information was not possible. A case has been filed under Section 19A of the Arms Act, 1878, at Bayezid Bostami Police Station in this incident. According to police information, there are a total of 11 cases against the arrested Asif, including preparation for robbery, extortion, rioting, Arms Act, assault on government servant and attempt to murder. On the other hand, there are two cases of extortion against Saidul Islam Prakash Arif.
