As part of the ongoing operation against drugs and weapons in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, 16 Armed Police Battalion (APBN) conducted a special operation. A drug dealer was arrested in the operation along with a country-made firearm, a large quantity of Yaba tablets and cash for selling drugs. On Tuesday (July 14, 2026), under the overall guidance of 16 Armed Police Battalion Commander (Additional DIG) Mohammad Kausar Sikder and under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Mofizur Rahman, Camp Commander of 24 Leda APBN Camp, the operation was conducted. Based on a secret information, the suspect was arrested in an operation in the area adjacent to Leda Camp. After the arrest, a country-made single-barrel gun, a large quantity of illegal Yaba tablets and cash for selling Yaba were recovered during a search of his body and residence. The recovered evidence has been seized and the necessary legal process has been completed. The law enforcement agencies said that during the initial interrogation, the detained person gave important information about his involvement in drug trafficking in the border area for a long time. The matter is being investigated and the operation to identify and arrest other members involved in this gang is ongoing. The arrested accused and the recovered weapons, Yaba and cash have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action. Preparations are underway to file a case under the relevant law in this incident. The 16 Armed Police Battalion has informed that their special operation will be further strengthened in the border area of Cox’s Bazar to suppress drugs, illegal weapons, terrorism and organized crime. Intelligence surveillance and regular operations will continue to prevent Yaba smuggling along the border, bring drug dealers under the law and ensure the safety of the common people. APBN officials said that the law enforcement agencies are working relentlessly in light of the government’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy against drugs and weapons. They mentioned that the cooperation and provision of information by the public is also very important in suppressing crime.
