Bangladeshi Community Leader Engineer Abu Zafar Chowdhury Passes Away in Dubai

Engineer Abu Zafar Chowdhury (75), a prominent Bangladeshi community leader in the United Arab Emirates and former president of the Bangladesh Samiti Abu Dhabi, has passed away.

He breathed his last on Sunday around 8:00 PM while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Sharjah. According to family sources, he fell seriously ill after suffering a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died. (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un).

Born into a respected Muslim family in Banshkhali উপজেলার of Chattogram, Chowdhury was widely known for his long-standing contributions to the Bangladeshi expatriate community in the UAE. He remained actively involved in community service for nearly four decades, earning deep respect and admiration for his leadership, sincerity, and philanthropic efforts.

He is survived by his wife and two sons. His elder son is a physician based in the United States, while his younger son works as an engineer in Sharjah.

His death has cast a deep shadow of grief across the Bangladeshi diaspora in the UAE. Community members, colleagues, and well-wishers have expressed their condolences and prayed for the eternal peace of his soul.

Special prayers are being offered, seeking Almighty Allah’s mercy upon the departed and strength and patience for the bereaved family during this difficult time. Ameen.
