China has said it is willing to advance negotiations on upgrading its free trade agreement with Switzerland, signaling a push to deepen economic cooperation between the two countries.

In a statement released on Saturday, China’s Ministry of Commerce said that a high-standard upgraded free trade agreement would inject new momentum into bilateral trade, investment, and innovation partnerships.

The announcement came during a China–Switzerland trade meeting held in Bern, where officials from both sides discussed ways to strengthen economic ties and expand cooperation in key sectors.

Beijing emphasized that an enhanced agreement could further boost commercial exchange and support innovation-driven growth, highlighting Switzerland as an important economic partner in Europe.

The talks mark another step in ongoing efforts to modernize existing trade arrangements and broaden economic collaboration between China and Switzerland.
