The National Citizens Party (NCP) has formed an election management committee in view of the upcoming local government elections. Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the northern region of the NCP, has been appointed as the chairman of the committee. He announced the start of activities immediately after assuming the responsibility.
In a status posted on his Facebook, Sarjis Alam said, “From city corporations, municipalities, upazilas, unions to wards; those who want to be candidates, prepare. We are coming looking for you…”
This information was revealed by the NCP’s Local Government Election Steering Committee in a press release signed by NCP office cell member Sadia Farzana Dinar on Monday (February 23) night.
The notification said that in view of the upcoming local government elections, the ‘Local Government Election Steering Committee’ was formed on the instructions of NCP convener Md. Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhtar Hossain.
The newly formed committee has appointed NCP’s senior joint chief coordinator and MP from Noakhali-6 constituency Abdul Hannan Masud as member secretary. In addition, Ariful Islam Adeeb, Alauddin Mohammad, Tahsin Riaz and Advocate Manjila Jhuma are members. All divisional organizational secretaries will be included in this committee as ex-officio members and will perform their duties. In addition, the leaders of the central committee and the district leaders will provide overall cooperation.
