Golam Sarwar is just such a skilled, talented, smart, fearless and humane police officer. He has repeatedly proven – “Police is not for power, but for the safety and justice of the people.” In the present time, when various discussions, criticisms and questions arise in the society about the police, some honest and idealistic police officers brighten the dignity of the entire force through their work, honesty and public service. OC Golam Sarwar is one of those rare officers who has never seen responsibility as a job; rather, he has held it as a sacred commitment to the state, the people and the law. He took charge of Boalkhali Police Station in Chittagong at a very critical time. Political instability, deterioration of law and order, crime trends and an atmosphere of fear in the public mind were prevailing in the area at that time. In such a situation, it was not an easy matter for an officer-in-charge to take charge. But OC Golam Sarwar brought the situation in Boalkhali under control in a short time with his strong morale, strict administrative skills and practical police tactics. He understood that policing is not done only with strictness; it is also important to gain the trust of the people. Therefore, on the one hand, he took a strict stand against criminals, and on the other hand, he created a place of trust for them by standing by the common people. Under his leadership, new momentum, new discipline and new faith came to the police activities in Boalkhali Police Station. Even today, the people of Boalkhali remember his name with respect. Because he was not just an OC; he was a symbol of people’s safety. A police officer who made history in Chandanaish After serving successfully in Boalkhali for a long time, he was transferred to another important police station in Chittagong, Chandanaish. Many thought that it might take time to establish himself in a new place. But within just four months, he wrote a new police history in Chandanaish. He left his mark on law and order, anti-drug operations, crime suppression, good relations with the common people, and administrative discipline – everything. His sincerity, courage, and sense of responsibility impressed everyone from the common people to his fellow police members. He received special recognition as a skilled, talented, smart, and dedicated officer-in-charge at the crime evaluation meeting of the district police. This was undoubtedly a state recognition of his efficiency. The people of Chandanaish loved him so much that tears were seen in the eyes of many during the transfer. Because he was not just a government official there; he was a close friend of the people. Performing impartial and efficient duties at Devidwar Later, according to the administrative decision of the government, he was transferred to Devidwar police station in Comilla. During sensitive times like the national elections, he performed his duties with great efficiency, honesty and impartiality. In today’s reality, where various allegations and controversies arise regarding the performance of election duties, OC Golam Sarwar has set a unique example with his honesty and professionalism. No allegations have been made against him. Rather, the common people have praised his righteous role. While performing his duties at Devidwar, he proved once again that an honest police officer can establish the rule of law above political pressure if he wants. Political anger and a life of struggle An honest and efficient police officer often has to face various adversities. OC Golam Sarwar is no exception. In the past, he had to suffer various types of harassment due to political revenge and the anger of power. He even had to face difficult situations like losing his job. But he did not break down. He has proven himself once again with honesty, talent, confidence and professional skills. This is the identity of a true warrior. A new ray of hope in Sonargaon Police Station. Currently, he is serving as the Officer-in-Charge of Sonargaon Police Station under Narayanganj District. Since taking charge on April 6, new hope has been instilled among the local people. Historical Sonargaon is not only a part of the heritage of Bangladesh; it is also an important town. Maintaining a normal law and order situation here is very important. Since taking charge, OC Golam Sarwar has started working towards curbing crime, ensuring public safety and transforming the police station into a people-friendly institution. There is now a kind of relief among the local people. They believe that an experienced, humane and courageous police officer is in charge of their police station. A journalist-friendly and humane officer. I have had the opportunity to work closely with him as a journalist, writer and television presenter. From that experience, I can say that he is a very humble, simple, honest and humane person. He respects journalists,He values opinions and has a mentality of accepting the truth. Again, he is very strict and uncompromising against criminals. The combination of these two qualities can be seen in a real police officer. He is also a very dear person to his colleagues. Many of those who have served with him consider him an inspiration and a symbol of policing education. Born into a well-established Banedi family in Narsingdi on the path to public service, OC Golam Sarwar did not join the police because of his stomach. He came under the pressure of conscience, with the ideal of serving the country and with the dream of establishing the rule of law. His thoughts include justice, equality, humanity and responsibility towards the state. Therefore, the common people easily adopt him. Today, when honesty, responsibility and humanity are gradually shrinking in society, officers like OC Golam Sarwar are proving that there are still many good people within the Bangladesh Police who are working with dedication for the country and the people. After passing through Boalkhali, Chandanaish, and Devidwar, today in Sonargaon, he is walking on the path of writing a new history.
