At least 23 people were killed and 108 injured in a سلسلة of suspected suicide bomb attacks in Maiduguri, the রাজধানী of northeastern Borno State, authorities said on Monday night.

The coordinated blasts struck multiple locations across the city, including a post office in the কেন্দ্র, the busy Monday Market, the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and the eastern neighborhood of Kaleri.

Security officials said the attacks highlight the persistent threat posed by Islamist militants in the region, despite Maiduguri being the কেন্দ্র of Nigeria’s counter-insurgency operations.

Police confirmed that preliminary investigations indicate the attacks were carried out by suspected suicide bombers, although no group has officially claimed responsibility.

Witnesses described scenes of devastation at the Monday Market, where a large crater was left by the explosion. Bloodstains marked the রাস্তা, and debris—including scattered fruit—covered the area as security forces increased patrols across the city.

Security analysts say the হামলাগুলোর ধরন resembles tactics used by Boko Haram, which along with Islamic State West Africa Province has intensified attacks in recent months.

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu condemned the violence as an act of terror and ordered top security officials to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee the response.

The insurgency in Borno has lasted for more than 17 years, claiming thousands of lives and displacing around 2 million people. Authorities have warned of an increased risk of attacks during the final days of the Ramadan.

Beyond the northeast, insecurity is also spreading in other parts of Nigeria, particularly in the northwest, where armed groups continue to carry out kidnappings and হামলা on communities.

The United States has recently supported Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts, including conducting airstrikes in the northwest and deploying a limited number of troops to train local forces.
