Russia’s Ust-Luga port, one of the country’s largest petroleum export hubs, was damaged in a Ukrainian drone attack on Sunday, triggering a fire, regional authorities said.
Alexander Drozdenko, governor of the Leningrad region, confirmed the incident in a statement on Telegram, adding that Russian air defenses shot down a total of 36 drones over the area.
The Ust-Luga port plays a critical role in Russia’s energy exports. Operated by Transneft, the facility handles approximately 700,000 barrels of oil per day. Sources indicate the port shipped around 32.9 million metric tons of oil products in 2025.
Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Russian oil infrastructure, including export terminals and refineries, in an effort to weaken Moscow’s war economy. The latest strike underscores the ongoing escalation of attacks on key energy assets amid the prolonged conflict.
