In the long journey of life, there are moments that are not just a meeting – they become a silent document of feelings, respect and responsibility. Today is such a meaningful day for me. As a journalist, researcher, writer and television presenter, I have had the opportunity to meet, exchange views and meet many people. But some people occupy a special place of honor due to their personality, talent, work efficiency and human qualities. Chittagong District Police Superintendent Masud Saheb is one of them. Today, I went to the office of the Chittagong District Police Superintendent for a courtesy call and presented him with the book ‘Sangbadik o Sangbadpater Kotha’, written from the essence of my long research, experience and journalistic life. It was not just a book gift; rather, it was a symbolic attempt to make the relationship between society, state, media and responsible administration more meaningful. While writing the book, I spent a long time researching journalism, the history of newspapers, the struggle of journalists, ethics, state control, the reality of free expression, and the responsibility of the media in society. Because newspapers are not just newspapers—they are the mirror of society, the conscience of the state, and a constant watchdog for protecting human rights. And that is why I felt that this exchange of knowledge and experience with responsible administration is very important. What impressed me the most in my conversation with Chittagong District Police Superintendent Masud was his extraordinary humility, attentive listening skills, and clear vision of responsibility. He is an officer who has a wonderful combination of administrative firmness and human tenderness. The perspective that is needed to see people as human beings even while performing strict duties is clearly reflected in his behavior. Controlling the law and order situation in a vast and complex district like Chittagong is not an easy task. Ensuring security in this township, which is made up of various realities – mountains, towns, cities, ports, villages – requires courage, prudence, the ability to make quick decisions, and sincere responsibility to the people. From that point of view, it can be said that Superintendent of Police Masud has already established himself as a capable officer who is sincere, brave, just, and capable of taking timely steps in performing his duties. Especially in various areas of the district including Raozan, Rangunia, and Fatikchhari, his efforts in controlling the law and order situation, preventing crime, strengthening people-oriented policing activities, and creating a sense of security among the common people are being discussed positively. He has understood that the real power of the police lies not only in enforcing the law, but in gaining the trust of the people. In my journalistic career, I have seen numerous police officers. Some are strict in their duties, some are administratively efficient, and some are brilliant in humanity. But very few people can see the combination of these qualities. What I have clearly realized in Masud is that he considers responsibility not as a job, but as an important commitment to public service. In today’s interview, he expressed his interest in holding the book in his hand,The attention and courteous conversation made me optimistic. Because in order to build a knowledge-based society, there needs to be a connection between administration and intellectual practice. When a police officer is interested in books, research and social thought, it carries a positive message for the future. As a journalist, I believe that the administration, media and civil society should not be opponents of each other but rather fellow travelers in establishing justice, order and democratic values in society. The journalist will present the truth, the administration will ensure justice, and the people will get a safe and dignified living environment. It is because of this belief that today’s courtesy meeting has become particularly significant for me. This moment in the picture is therefore not just a formality. On the one hand, it is a reminder of the responsibility towards the pen of a writer, and on the other hand, it is an expression of respect, goodwill and trust towards a responsible police officer. The color of the picture may fade with time, but today’s meeting, this conversation, this moment of gifting this book will remain in the memory album as a bright reflection of a cordial relationship, mutual respect and human responsibility. It is our hope that the law and order situation in Chittagong will be strengthened, that people-oriented policing will be expanded, and that the leadership of Police Superintendent Masud will become a successful example of the humane administration that people expect.
