Chattogram: A discussion titled ‘Women of Chattogram in the World of Stories’ was held to highlight the creative contributions of women fiction writers from Chattogram and their role in the world of Bengali storytelling.
The event was organized by ‘Golpokar’ Forum Chattogram at 6:00 pm on Friday at the Fulki Auditorium in the Nandan Kanan area of the city.
The discussion was moderated by fiction writer and editor of Golpokar, the only Bengali-language monthly magazine dedicated exclusively to stories. The session was chaired by noted fiction writer and President of ‘Golpokar’ Forum Chattogram, Anwara Alam.
Fiction writers Mohit Ul Alam, Bishwajit Chowdhury, researcher Uditi Das, fiction writer Tahurin Sabur Dalia, and fiction writer Mahi Muhammad took part in the discussion.
The speakers discussed the literary practices, creative contributions, and role of women fiction writers from Chattogram in the world of Bengali literature and storytelling.
During the event, stories by selected writers including Bichitra Sen, Runa Tasmina, Mohchhena Jharna, Sajia Afrin, and Nur Nahar Nipa were discussed. The speakers highlighted various aspects of their storytelling, literary characteristics, themes, and creative approaches.
Elizabeth Arifa Mubashshir was also given a special honour at the event. Subhash Sarbabidya, Treasurer of ‘Golpokar’ Forum Chattogram and a fiction writer, greeted her with flowers.
The programme also featured musical performances alongside the discussion session. Guests and audiences expressed their satisfaction with the overall arrangement and the quality of the discussions.
Representatives of ‘Golpokar’ Forum Chattogram expressed their commitment to continuing similar literary and cultural programmes in the future.
