The King, accompanied by Queen Camilla, will participate in events marking the 250th anniversary of American independence. The royal couple is also scheduled to visit Bermuda after their U.S. trip.
Buckingham Palace stated that the visit will celebrate the long-standing historical ties and modern bilateral relationship between the two nations. The trip is being carried out on the advice of the British government and marks the first state visit by a British monarch to the U.S. since Queen Elizabeth II visited in 2007.
Relations between Keir Starmer and Donald Trump have recently deteriorated over the UK’s cautious stance on the Iran conflict. Starmer has resisted deeper military involvement and initially declined to allow U.S. forces to use British bases for offensive operations.

Trump previously visited the UK in September, where he was hosted at Windsor Castle in a lavish state visit. He praised the “special relationship” between the two countries, calling it “irreplaceable and unbreakable.”
The upcoming visit is expected to play a key diplomatic role, especially as Prince William is also anticipated to visit the U.S. later this year during the soccer World Cup.
Despite political tensions, Trump has indicated that his relationship with King Charles remains strong, calling him “a great gentleman.”
The visit may place King Charles in a delicate position. Trump remains unpopular among many Britons, and the monarch—known for his lifelong advocacy on environmental issues—holds views that differ sharply from Trump’s stance on climate change.
Additionally, attention may turn to controversies involving Prince Andrew and his past association with Jeffrey Epstein.
Some political figures, including Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, have even called for the visit to be canceled, arguing that it would hand Trump an undeserved diplomatic victory.
