Md Nazrul Islam has been promoted to the position of Director at Bangladesh Bank, according to an official order issued on Sunday by the central bank’s Human Resources Department-1.
Prior to his promotion, he served as an Additional Director and was working in the SME and Special Programs Department. He will continue to serve in his current role as Director until further notice.
Nazrul Islam has been serving as the Program Director of the Entrepreneur Development Programme under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation initiative since October 2021. The programme is implemented by the Skills Development Coordination and Monitoring Unit under the Ministry of Finance and plays a key role in fostering entrepreneurship and skill development across the country.
During his career at Bangladesh Bank, he has held responsibilities in several important departments, including the Credit Guarantee Department, Financial Institutions Inspection Department, and the Banking Regulations and Policy Department.
Nazrul Islam completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at University of Dhaka. He later earned a professional master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand. He also obtained a Certified Risk Management Expert (CERM) qualification from Germany.
He hails from Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah district.
