
Official figures released Thursday show Turkey’s population stood at 86.32 million as of July 1.
The country’s population rose by 228,434 to 86.09 million in the first half of 2026 from the end of the previous year, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said.
The population rose by 123,904 between May 1 and July 1.
Total population was 43.17 million . Of them men were 50.01 % 43.15 million and women were 49.99 % .
The largest five-year age group was 25-29 year olds, with 6.66 million people. The next largest age groups were 10-14 year olds, with 6.56 million participants, and 15-19 year olds, with 6.4 million participants.
Some 9.79 million people, or about 11.3% of the nation’s population, were 65 and older.
