Rangunia’s beauty triumphs on the world stage: From Aloha Grand Champion to medal winner at the International Olympiad

Susmoy Barua Sapta, a talented student from Ichamati village in Rangunia upazila of Chittagong, is making Bangladesh’s name shine through one success after another in the international arena. She has proudly raised the red-green flag of Bangladesh on the world stage by achieving outstanding achievements in Mathematics and English Olympiads. ‘Aloha Mental Arithmetic’, an organization known worldwide for its mental arithmetic skills, concentration and intellectual development of children, has been operating in more than 40 countries around the world. Every year, the organization organizes international competitions with the best students in the world. In continuation of this, Susmoy Barua Sapta participated in the ‘Aloha Bangladesh National Competition’ held at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka. She achieved the prestigious ‘Grand Champion’ title among about 3,500 competitors nationwide with her extraordinary talent. In recognition of this success, she was awarded cash and special honors by Aloha Bangladesh. After this glorious achievement at the national level, Susmoy got the opportunity to represent Bangladesh in international competitions. Competing with the best competitors from 17 countries around the world, she achieved the honor of becoming the 3rd runner-up. Her success on the world stage not only brightened the image of Bangladesh but also brought special respect to her educational institution ‘Aloha Math Comilla Branch’. Later, she was also given a reception and award by the institution. Susmoy is currently a 10th grade science student at Chittagong Collegiate School, one of the country’s most traditional educational institutions. In addition to her extraordinary skills in mathematics, she has also achieved equal success in English language competitions and international Olympiads. Earlier, Susmoy received an official invitation to participate in the final round of the International English Olympiad held in the United States, but could not attend in person due to visa complications. However, overcoming the adversity, she participated in the online exam and achieved the prestigious ‘silver medal’. Through this, she brought another international recognition to Bangladesh. Later, Susmoy also qualified for the final round of the International Olympiad in Japan and the United Kingdom. However, due to scheduling constraints, she decided to participate in the prestigious International Olympiad to be held in London, UK. She has already received an official invitation and is preparing for her trip to London. Susmoy Barua Sapta was born in an education-minded family in Ichamati village of Rangunia upazila in Chittagong. Her father, Engineer Riton Barua, works as an assistant engineer at Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA). Her mother, Sharmila Barua, has a master’s degree from Chittagong University. Along with her studies, Susmoy runs a Facebook page called ‘World Stage Winner Sapta’. There, she shares her education and international competition experiences, as well as conducts free online classes and guidance programs for students as per her time and opportunity.
