South African television presenter and rapper Molemo Maarohanye, widely known as Jub Jub, has been arrested after allegedly kidnapping a taxi driver and firing a gun in his direction during a dispute involving his girlfriend.

According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday morning in Edenvale, a town located about 25 kilometers east of Johannesburg. Authorities allege that Maarohanye confronted the taxi driver, accusing him of having a relationship with his girlfriend. He reportedly forced the man into his vehicle and later discharged a firearm in the driver’s direction.

The victim was not injured and managed to escape before reporting the incident to a nearby police station. Police say the confrontation took place at approximately 7:30 a.m. local time.

Maarohanye is expected to make his first court appearance at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. He has not yet publicly commented on the allegations.

The arrest marks the latest legal challenge for the entertainer, who was previously convicted in 2012 of murder and attempted murder after a drag-racing crash that killed four schoolchildren and injured two others. However, South Africa’s High Court later overturned those convictions and replaced them with a culpable homicide verdict.

In 2023, Maarohanye was also arrested on charges including rape, attempted murder, and assault following allegations made by a former girlfriend. Those charges were withdrawn in 2024 after prosecutors determined there was insufficient evidence to secure a conviction.

Jub Jub is currently the host of “Uyajola 9/9,” a popular South African reality television show that investigates and exposes alleged infidelity in relationships.

Authorities say investigations into the latest incident are ongoing.
