Britain’s Foreign Office on Wednesday advised against all travel to Lebanon, citing heightened security risks as the Middle East conflict continues to widen following recent military actions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
In updated guidance published on its website, the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) said it now advises against “all travel or all but essential travel to all areas of Lebanon,” revising its previous warning which applied only to certain parts of the country.
Lebanon has been increasingly drawn into the regional crisis, particularly along its southern border with Israel. The move comes as tensions surge between Israel and the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah.
Earlier this week, Hezbollah launched drones and rockets into Israel, triggering retaliatory strikes by Israeli forces. According to reports, dozens of people have been killed in the escalating exchanges.
On Wednesday, Israeli authorities urged residents to evacuate parts of southern Lebanon as military operations intensified. The conflict has raised fears of a broader confrontation that could further destabilize the region.
The UK government continues to monitor the situation closely and has urged British nationals in Lebanon to follow official advice and stay updated on developments.
